I bring ten years of experience as a physical therapist to treat adult women of all ages from my home office in Monsey, NY. You will receive a professional hands-on assessment rooted in the knowledge that you are the expert of your own body. Labor preparation:
Your body is designed for birth. Learn how to prepare your core and pelvic floor muscles to endure labor. We will go over techniques for releasing and opening your pelvis to allow smooth passage of your baby and maximize the likelihood of achieving the birth you desire.
Recovery following delivery:
Vaginal and cesarian delivery both have their own unique recovery challenges, and each birth is different. Learn how to manage, eliminate, or ideally prevent the conditions listed above through hands-on treatment, education and manageable exercise that you can simply build into your day to day activities as a mother. Typically, I do not see clients for physical therapy before six weeks postpartum as I believe in focusing on rest and traditional postpartum practices during the early days. However, if you are experiencing pain or discomfort before then, please reach out and we can discuss ways I may be able to help.
General Strengthening:
We can collaborate to create an exercise program to match your body's needs and abilities. Exercise form and technique will be closely observed and feedback will be provided to ensure exercises are being done properly. As your independence with the exercises increases, you may prefer to continue with your program at home.
Newborn Massage:
Newborn massage directly benefits your baby in many proven ways including promoting improved relaxation, digestion, bonding, circulation, core strength, ribcage expansion, and immune function. The nervous system of mother and newborn are closely intertwined; therefore, newborn massage also indirectly benefits mother as well.
Management of pregnancy related pain
During pregnancy your body undergoes several changes: hormonal shifts cause ligament laxity and instability; organs move to make room for your growing baby; breathing becomes more difficult as your baby pushes up into your diaphragm; and the demands on your pelvic floor increase. Common pregnancy complaints that we can address include SI joint pain, pubic symphysis pain, and back pain.
